Firefighters Rescue Hiker From Woods
From the Daily News Los Angeles:
Firefighters this morning rescued an injured and possibly hypothermic hiker believed to have spent a shivering night alone in a storm sweeping across Los Angeles.
The man was rescued at 10:05 a.m. Monday from a cliff in the west San Fernando Valley after authorities hiked 30 minutes to reach him, said d’Lisa Davies, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman.
A caller had first alerted authorites to the missing man at 9:40 a.m. Monday. The man was last seen hiking in the 3600 block of Vanalden Avenue, near Gleneagles Drive.
Davies said the man will be carried up the cliff to safety.
She urged others to stay away from hiking trails during today’s heavy rain, because of the chance of mudslides and fallen rocks.
